I had a hard time with Son of a Witch...but that's b/c I expected it to be a continuation of Wicked. After I got over that... I read it again and really liked it for the book it was!
I liked Son of a Witch, but I also had issues with Lion Among Men. It didn't seem to progress the story much. I have Out of Oz on my Too Read list but haven't gotten to it yet, so I'm glad to hear that you thought it was a good end.
