there's a spectrum in every mental illness or disorder. In Charlie's case, there was incest committed by someone he really loved, and he had other problems adjusting emotionally and socially. I know of someone who had blocked some incidences from her life, up until she was ready to face these memories throughout therapy. And some people have a much worse case of PTSD than Charlie, they startle at the minor sound or gesture, and hide away from people.

The whole point of PTSD is that it pushes people over and beyond the norm. Everyone who experiences trauma exhibits some level of trauma in their behavior, but not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD.
"I know many many people who have been molested and they don't act that way."
Everyone's experience and response is different, but in my experience in dealing with survivors of abuse, nothing that Charlie does is at all unusual for someone who's been molested.
