Tirzah I see where you're coming from as far as disturbing. I think sometimes it is difficult to determine what is appropriate for a child since each child is different. When a teacher has a class full of twenty or twenty-five different people, then it's really difficult. Personally, I feel a majority of today's kids can handle the content in the HG books because of their exposure to video games, movies...maybe if they study HG and Suzanne Collins's position on violence, they will learn about how violence can be glamorized(stealing Kristen's words!) and violence is not all about fun and games.

Angie Elle I'm 35, Amanda, so I'm sure our perceptions and what we took away from the book were very different. I think some people are more sensitive to things like this. I'm not sure I would have wanted my 13 year old to read this.

Angie Elle Ooops...I just want to add, Amanda...that doesn't mean I don't think you should have read it. I think that all children/adolescents are different.
