Carrie -- as a parent and a first grade teacher, I hope you will experiment with audio as well as reading. Do you ever read out loud to your children or students? Do you think there is a place for learning the skills of listening to stories and non-fiction ideas? Not all attempts will work, but I have come to be a strong advocate of both types of access to stories and information, As a result, I increasingly hope teachers (and the rest of us) will learn how to pass along the skills and tips and tricks on how and when to use well the various modes available to us. (On another front, I am sad that many elderly with eye problems may not know how to use an ereader with its variable size fonts and may find learning the eccentricities of ebooks too frustrating to be willing to undertake. But, if they were already comfortable with them...)
