WOT is wonderful and best read straight thru - also I recommmend using Book and audiobook. I listened on my iphone when driving then picked up where left off in ebook or physical book when I could. It was a fun way to read the series. Great narrators for the audiobook and helped change up the pace. Helps a lot on pronunciation - funny thing is halfway thru the series the Narrators made a major change in pronuncation of Moghedien the Forsaken
The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind is pretty decent if you haven't read it yet.

I also loved Game of Thrones
I'm reading them with one separate book in between each so I don't get bogged down and so I can time it perfectly with the 14th book coming out. I also have to read it - I tend to tune out if listening to the book
From what I understand, since this is now a TV show, Martin has been pushed to finish the series faster. Good for us! :)
