Wouldn't that be the point? Everyone seeing the Mockingjay die? That would have been a good way for Snow to put out the Hope - the people who beat the Hunger Games get killed by the hunger Games, you know?
I think they would have (killed her) live on the show. They might have made it look like an accident, the monkeys, fog etc., but like Daniela said they would want to break everyone's hope.
