Julia I completely agree! I felt that the author totally took over the third book for some personal rant about the horrors of war, which could have been done while staying true to the characters. In my opinion, that's what made Girl With the Dragon Tattoo so compelling, despite all the horrors that occurred there as well. Characters should change over the course of the story, but not in such a way as to make them unrecognizable. In short, I felt "hijacked" by the author in the end.

Audrey Agreed. The author wasted the first 200 pages and COMPLETELY rushed (and thereby ruined) the last 15.

Audrey @ Julia - You hit the nail on the head. If you've read Breaking Dawn, Collins reminded me of how Meyer wasted the last book on some anti-abortion rant.

Lex @Audrey- yes, the storytelling was terrible in the first 200 pages. By the time we arrived at the action sequences, I felt no impulse to care about what happens. Maybe Collins felt some pressure to deliver an ultimate conclusion, but she dropped the ball.

@Julia- it's interesting you bring up Girl W/ the Dragon Tattoo, for I just read that trilogy before Hunger Games. For the same reasons I adore Katniss in books 1 and 2, I think Salander is a tremendous heroine.
