Yes, Alex did say he's been there since he was a child, but does that mean since he was a baby? 6 or 7? or more like 13-15? Julian's brother had to "die" before he was 17 since he wasn't cured. We never knew much about Alex. If he is Julian's brother and escaped when he was 15 he would have been in the wilds for almost 10 years. It wouldn't be a stretch for Alex to say he has been in the wilds since he was a child.
Also Alex is older since he is in college but no one ever says how much older. I always imagined him around 22 or 23
Alex, tells Lena at the Crypts, he was born in the Wilds, that his mother died, and everyone raised him after that. He than came to Portland when he was 10 to live with to cured sympathizers. We are also left to conclude that Alex is about two years older that Lena, that would make him about 19. So unless Alex is totally lying he can not be Jullian's brother.
it says in the book that Alex was in college but maybe just 2 years older from Lena.
