My bad! I misspelled Jackson's name. It's Pollock.
LOL!!! I am an artist and I spell Pollock the same way you do all the time. (He was fishy afterall). I agree with you on the lack of sophistication in diagnosing and treating mental illness. I also think if he was not in such a structured society and family, he would've been so much happier. If he could have been given a stabilizing med.... Then, one has to wonder if without all the trauma and drama would he have been as great a painter.
I do not know if you've heard of Eric Maisel. He is a psychologist who writes on creativity and depression (among other things). He wrote The Van Gogh Blues, which is one of my favorites about this issue.
