As much as I thought Gerard Butler was dreamy, I was kind of angry that they cast him as the Phantom. We're talking about a role where they didn't have to worry about the actor being "attractive" at all, since Erik's supposed to be disfigured anyway, and they couldn't even use that to find a decent tenor? Butler may be a great baritone, I don't know, but he certainly doesn't hold a candle to Michael Crawford's amazing tenor.
Also, could they maybe have picked a Raoul who didn't constantly look like he was mentally composing his grocery list the whole time? My purse could do a more emotive acting job.
