Alfred Kellhus was way too powerful? I don't know if I can agree with you there, Maouz. Kellhus' power was earned; he had to learn magic. But I do think that by the third book, the other characters became more interesting than him. Once things became easy for him, the development of other characters began to shine brighter.

Asgar I myself just couldn't bring myself to compare George Martin with Scott Bakker. The former is certainly adumbrated by the superior latter.

Well, I reserve any further comment due to ignorance about G.R.Martin at this time, LOL. After I've read him I may have a change of heart... it's happened before.

Asgar Martin's good if you just want to read something breezy and accessible. Although you won't get the same intellectual satisfaction you get with Bakker. :)
