Pat Patterson Melanie Snyder doesn't come up in search and the only Valek I see here is a blog post about a cat. Can you link to the Study series? I'd like to take a look

Nico Than's Poison Study by Maria Snyder. Good pick, Cayra.
Pat, I tried the Fever series and stopped after the first book. I kind of hate Barrons right now, but I can totally see how he could end up like Bones (who I adore). Do you think I should keep reading? Did you think the second book was better?

Completely understandable. He's a mean jacka++ off the top. I didn't understand how this could be classified as a PR, or a romance of any kind. But this series kind of has to be taken as a whole: I don't think any of the books stand alone.

I was uncertain after the first one, pretty much caught up in the story in the second, and the third blew me away. By the end of the series I was in love with Barrons and half the other characters in the book. I re-read 2 of the books, then I went back and read her Highlander series where a lot of the chars show up for the first time. SO, of course, after that I had to read the series yet again.

Lucky for you they're all out now (even though she's writing a new one) because she is the QUEEN of the cheapo cliffhanger (said with love Karen!). I mean, really, really baaaaad cliff hangers. If you decide to continue reading, here's some advice: a) don't finish one late at night if you don't have the next one and b) always have the next one.

But I do love them all, and I love KMM.

Good luck, Kara! I hope you enjoy them. I re-read #4 as soon as I finished it, then did the same for #5. I really think the end of the last book is one of the BEST finishes I've ever read. Close to Ursula LeGuin territory
