Characters were having the same name because the next generation of children had their parents's names passed on to them. It was confusing at times to keep track.
I know with the Cathy and then her daughter, but after awhile it wasn't confusing. We do that with ancestral names here, it is a nice touch.
Oh, I agree. I did like it and it did become easier, but there were some times when I had to stop and think, are they talking about a past scene with the first Cathy, or is this the kid?
I know they should have prefaced those parts, by saying young Cathy, or old Cathy. There were lots of reminisces in that book.
