Along the lines of my previous post about updating Hamlet to fit modern times. I saw a terrific production of Measure for Measure this week that was updated to the 1970s, New York City. The action took place in a community center and instead of Elizabethan maidens singing lute songs, there was a Spanish mariachi trio singing Latin laments. It was wonderfully refreshing Shakespeare, and I think some fresh approaches to Hamlet would give a lot of new insight into what ails the young lad.
