Pam Shadow of Night, the second book, is due out early next year (February), according to a comment I received on FridayReads. Can't wait.

Dhfan4life Good to know. Thanks for the info Pam.

Cynthia "SHADOW OF NIGHT news: It’s official, the title of the book formerly known as book #2 is SHADOW OF NIGHT. According to many web sites and press statements, the release date has been set for Summer 2012. I don’t know anything more than what you’ve read–not the month or the day. But I will of course keep you posted here. I imagine the exact date will get set sometime this autumn. "

Pam Good to have the official date. Thanks!

message 7: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia I just finished the book today and had gone looking for news of the sequel!

message 8: by Dana (new)

Dana Shadow of Night is the next one in this series and it should be out Summer 2012 according to the authors website. Like you I was disappointed when I got to the end but enjoyed it so much I have reread it since (something I rarely do). I am so invested now I can't wait til the next comes out.

Jacqui Re-reading this one but reading it in real time as the books starts in September and runs for a period of 40 days. Can't wait for the 2nd one.

I may save some of my Barnes & Noble gift card to buy this. It will come out right before I leave on a mission trip - several hours in the car for reading!

message 12: by Kathy (new)

Kathy It might even be possible to pre-order if you like. Good luck on your mission trip!

message 13: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life Yea, I'm sure from bookstores you can definitely set it up to pre-order. But see I don't know if B&N will send it to you before the actual release date or not. I know Borders used to do that but different places sometimes won't send out pre-orders til the week of the release. Which is pretty silly to me.

message 14: by Kathy (new)

Kathy It depends on the release. Some books have a type of release that does not allow them to be delivered or shelved until the set release date. Others have looser releases. I'm guessing SON will not be delivered or shelved until the set date.

message 15: by Kathy (new)

Kathy It's called an SOS release (Strict on Sale).

message 16: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life Oh well that sucks. I have heard they do that for some games as well. But I think that is just silly. I mean why pre-order it and wait for days for it to come to your house on the day of the release. When you mind as well just walk into your nearest store and just buy it off the shelf the day it comes out.

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy As long as it's not one that sells out before you get to the store.

message 18: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life So far I have never had that happen. Have had a couple of lazy employees that didn't want to stack the new releases just yet. Even on the day of the release date. But that has been my supermarket experience. Never had that happen at a bookstore though.

message 19: by Kathy (new)

Kathy I live in the middle of nowhere so it's a 45 minute drive to the nearest bookstore. Plus, they're in a different time zone (an hour ahead). Pre-ordering just saved us a lot of time and gasoline. LOL Not that we pre-order much. We just mainly did when it came to the HP books. We always bought copies for each of my nieces and nephews. To each their own, whatever works best.

message 20: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life To which I agree to each their own. I'm just used to having stores nearby and local to get what I need. I have done a bit of pre-ordering at times. But not very often as that shipping has caught up with me.

message 21: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Shipping can be a doozie. I usually try to find free-shipping if I order anything, but I don't order much. I'll be happy to move to a town where we actually have access to everything. It's definitely a pain living 15 minutes from the nearest town and it only having a population of about 6500. LOL

message 22: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life Dang. I don't even know how many people we have here. But it's kind of typical small town I guess. Just we are kind of lucky to be located near another small town that has more stores and stuff to shop from and buy stuff in. Also helps that we have a wal-mart here and one in the next town too. So pretty easy to pick up stuff there. And yea I usually come across places that say the shipping is free if you spend over 50 bucks or so. That is why I hate it.

message 23: by Kathy (new)

Kathy We have a Wal-Mart (that went in when I was in high school) and a couple of grocery stores, a hardware store, a movie theater, one clothing store, one jewelry store, and some restaurants. That's about it...and it takes me 25 minutes to get there. LOL

If I order, it's usually from Amazon which gives free shipping if it's over like $25 so. Like I said, I rarely order online, though. I tend to wait and drive the 45 minutes to Lafayette once or twice a month to get anything I need. When I do, I stock up. Goodness, I can't even get Eukanuba dog food without driving the 45 minutes each direction. LOL

message 24: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life Yea there was always the Wally world in heath when I was growing up here. And we've always had Meijer, Kroger type of stores. But they closed up the dollar show we had. And so the only theatre is the one in heath at the one mall. Another Kroger, tannning places, clothing places, and restaurants, even best buy and the fire depts. Roughly like 15 to 20 mins depending if you go on the highway or the long way around. And how the traffic is as so many people from further out come in to shop in Heath too.

I've ordered a few things from Amazon before. And they usually have decent shipping prices. Just depends on where it is coming from I guess. About the only time I got caught up with paying for higher shipping was when I bought a book and it came in 2 days. Not the usual shipping time of a week or so.

message 25: by Kathy (new)

Kathy I have to drive 45 minutes to get to Best Buy or anything like that. Our grocery store is just a small one from a small chain. We really don't have much. The only reason we have the Wal-Mart and the cinema (which we've had less than ten years) is due to our small college (which has about 1000 students total including day students). We really don't have much at all. LOL

message 26: by Dhfan4life (new)

Dhfan4life Yea, time to move to a closer city ASAP, lol. I'm like 30 miles south of Columbus here. So we do kind of have that as an advantage a bit too. But I couldn't imagine living so far out and having to commute in for basic essentials and such. Would make me think I was in one of those movies where your nearest neighbor isn't close enough by to hear ya scream.

message 27: by Kathy (new)

Kathy LOL...I'm not sure my nearest neighbor is close enough to hear me scream...at least not if i'm inside my house.
