Personally I'm a fan of the Elena books, Bitten / Stolen / Broken / Frostbitten, I read only one of the others and didn't like it as much.

I've read all of the Elena books and am currently reading the novellas (if you haven't read them you really should! - specially Savage and Beginnings), most of them are free on her website and give you a lot of back story on the characters.
