Thank you for this insightful comment ... I appreciate this. It isn't a book I would have chosen for freshmen. I'll post here again to let you know how the discussion goes.
Well, the freshmen in our group were all right from high school, no older students among them. Gender evenly mixed, and all dorm residents. We started by inviting them to talk freely about what they found relevant to their lives ... expecting that health care would come up, but instead the first comment was on the condom conundrum, and their surprise over the prostitute's prices, and eventually to the unexpected consequences and "externalities" that affected more than a few people. As we had only an hour, which included a delivered box lunch, more of the conversation centered on dorm locations, the day's schedule ahead, and other helpful first day info. I'd call it a success, from the volunteer's role. The fire alarm going off brought easy closure to the rambling discussion. C'est la vie!
