PLus there was resentment towards Jack, there must have been. She wanted ot leave the room behind but when she looked at him, it would bring it all back. There was guilt that her child was not "correct" in how children should be and that must make it hard for her ot see him. She still loved her boy, but her emotions must have been unbelievable.
I totally agree with april meow. I loved the book. I think ma taking care of herself was a priority so she could function in the outside world again. She never stopped loving Jack but had to get mentally stable herself. I also would likt to see a sequel to know how both of them progressed. A must read book !!!
