Laura-nassidesa Eschbaugh I agree, we lose historical context of our current problems. Sometimes it is a good thing to have continuity between generations, a shared experience with a common book that has an impact on how they view the world.

Abbie Riddle I agree, this book is timeless. I home school and have a long list of classical literature my children will have to read before graduating. Some people have suggested that I change my reading list. However, it is loosely based off the reading list that I had growing up and the fact that I was greatly influenced my Great Great Grandfather who taught me to have a love for the classics. For at this time literature truly had a rhythmic and poetic beauty that appeals to the very emotions of the heart. The writing is rich and poignant.
