I really enjoyed the book. The end (hospital/ outside life) really makes you understand how young ma was when she was captured. She wasn't ready for a child but her instincts took over and she cared for Jack the best she could. When she would imagine life outside, she didn't connect the dots, that her child would still be the child from room, while she could be "normal" again. She hoped they could just be regular people and a regular child is not so clingy, adn jack is rightfully so. She was actually traumatized by the capture and Jack wasn't. He couldn't be traumatized by what he thought was mundane life.
