I completely agree. There's no point in school if you aren't going to be able to learn new things and grow as a person.
Fahrenheit 451 is by far my most favorite modern negative utopia that I have read yet, HOWEVER, I haven't read that many (Brave New World, 1984 and Fahrenheit 451).
If you like depressing you should add "On the beach" to that list.
I found that Fahrenheit 451 has a very uplifting ending.
