I love this story. I hate that you had to go through this a young child, but what a wonderful father you had, to let you have a say and what a wonderful woman Helen was to show you love and kindess during such a difficult time in your life. Truly inspiring.

This is my favorite, too. When I was a child, the "rich family" in our neighborhood had a "colored" maid who loved and took care of the house and everyone. Her name was Eula Mae. She was THE BOSS, but kind and loving.
