Mary was an activist from a family of activists, and never feared the technology so much as the human proclivity to abdicate responsibility for the monsters they create on any level, particularly socially. Mary Wollstonecraft and her husband, William Godwin, were on the forefront of the protests that sparked the French Revolution, after all.
