Kathy, no worries... it happens. I think the earlier books were much better. I think Morelli and Stephanie will never work as a permanent couple because they are too much alike. I think Stephanie is only interested Morelli because he took her virginity and then walked away and she felt rejected. I also think she wants Morelli because all the other burg woman want him. I wonder what Morelli would be like in a relationship with a stong willed independent woman not from the burg. Would he treat her differently than he treats Stephanie.

Liame I totally second this question, it's about time that she somehow evolve, her and the other main character, they are stagning there... I am already fed up with lola, she was funny at first but too much is just too much...

Liame: I agree, Lulu has become nothing more than an eating machine. Where in the earlier books she was bettering herself. Getting out of the life and taking a job as a file clerk.I agree, Morelli, Ranger and Stephanie are stagnant. I guess this is the direction the author has chosen to move in. Slap stick, toilet humor that is not funny over and over again.

Sharon I agree with Stephanie, Adrienna, and Liame. They need to start growing into adults. I don't want to see this happen over night but it would nice to see the characters change a little at a time.

Sharon: if you remember the earlier books, they were written in progression, changes made gradually. The main characters are suppose to be adults, there are times when I am hard pressed to see them as adults. I found 17 so bad, when the character history of each of the main characters were wiped out for a curse.. that Stephanie said she didn't believe in. And, yet she was having sex with both Ranger and Morelli. Oddly enough in book 2, Grandma Mazur threatened to put a curse on Vinnie and tell Vinnie's grandma Bella Vinnie was treating family wrong. Vinnie wanted to give Stephanie's skip to another bounty hunter. Needless to say Vinnie let Stephanie keep the skip.

Sharon If Stephanie changes too much then she ceases to be the Stephanie we know and love and Janet might as well let her marry Morelli, settle down and get a job at the button factory. JMO of course.

Sharon, It would depend on the changes. If you remember the original books, Stephanie was a independent woman, with attitude and tenacity to get the job done. She was smart and intuitive. In the last four books that Stephanie ceased to exist and instead Stephanie became indecisive, whining and unable to function without one of the men bailing her out. book 17 stole the characters history, erased the alpha males with their bad boy attitudes and made them robotic, emotionless men going through the motion. Stephanie having sex with both men was a method to sell a book that had no true plot or story line. It was fragmented and painful to read. I didn't see the past wit and humor in the book. I don't see book 18 being any better since its a continuation of the story from 17. It no longer matters what decision Stephanie makes. the series as crashed and burned, becoming a series for teens and tweens.

Carole Funny how the statement of liking Plum just the way it is turned into a plug for Wicked Appetite. Sheesh.....

Carole: yes, it did, I don't think the Diesel books are selling that well, people were disappointed by them. I found it interesting Janet Evanovich didn't answer the top ten questions. But, chose the fluff ones to answer. I have come to the conclusion Ranger's secrets will never be told. Stephanie will remain with Morelli... battling for an immature control of a relationship neither one will put effort into. The series has ended at book 12 where Ranger is concerned. And, since Janet is under utilizing Ranger. He should be killed off or sent to Miami. Ranger will now only be used to tease her fan base and to sell books.

Kathy I personally think JE has gotten bored with writing the series and is now concentrating on her comic books instead. There doesn't seem to be any life left in the last 4 books that I can really see. I actually had to force myself to read Sixteen, because I kept losing intrest, and I haven't even read seventeen yet and I'm not sure I want to after the reviews I have read.

Carole Seventeen is a little better now that Lula has her intestinal problem under control. Actually, anything was better that #16. Give #17 a shot but don't pay money for it, go to the library. Its not that bad...2 1/2 to 3 stars vs 1 for #16.

Kathy Thanks Carole, I will give it a shot, but I agree, I will borrow from the library. Thanks

Sheila i agree you take that ditziness away and the books get a little :::yawn::: especially the thing between her, and her guys. I'm on book 8 and i see a bit of difference in her. she's not as spunky that she's usually is. but i would be up for a little change
