I read The MovieGoer, and I had no idea Walker had anything to do with Toole's book. I knew his mom had it published after his suicide, but didn't know it was Walker Percy.

The Confederacy of Dunces is brilliant! I grew up in New Orleans, so I could visualize both the people and the settings perfectly. And being from New Orleans I also could hear the different accents of the characters so well that I could tell you which part of the city they come from. The way Toole writes the dialogue is absolutely brilliant. It's a shame he committed suicide because he couldn't get it published. I would have loved to see what his future works would have been. It's wonderful that his mother persevered and finally it was published by LSU Press. It won a Pulitzer it's first year it was out. If it wasn't for his mother, this great work would have been lost forever.
