I agree with your take on Cal so strongly I have to ask (because the rest I honestly don't get) what makes you think she could have fixed him?
I love Maven with a dying passion, but the "bathtub" scene in King's cage shows his true nature, who he is without Elara's meddling, and you know... he's awful. He's incapable of loving Mare in a way that allows her to be free, which in turn kills the last bit of hope she had for him. He dooms himself to her hate by trying to keep her with him.

i strongly agree with you. cal just isnt the guy for mare. i feel that maven understood mare in a way that no one could because they both were overshadowed by their siblings. i really love cal as a charecter too but as you stated they bith would have ended up destroying each other. maven on the other hand would really be able to love mare the way she deserved. (only possible if he werent the bad guy)

Camilla I agree! Maven was never free. When Mare killed him, he could finally be with Tomas. Be himself without his mother always in is head. Death is Maven second chance so your dream came true. Stupid Cal will never accept that. Seriously he is SO Dumb it makes me SO MAD! JUST GET SMARTER!
