I really like this take because it's quite uncommon. The more I think about your claim makes a lot of sense. Although I also do believe there was many other causes to their demise. I believe this one to make a lot more sense than the others. Perhaps, even if the Prince did more to stop the families feud, perhaps they wouldn't have even gone through half the struggles they faced.
