KLK I'm glad that I'm not the only fan who bought all her books, including the manga ones that aren't in English, just so I could have the cool covers... Yes, I admit my geekness... It was shocking to read her bitter posting and I gave her a pass because I figured she was having an off day/week, etc. But, to read Nevermore and be left with a cliffhanger; that's brutal... I'll read it anyway she'll provide it, but doggoneit, give it to the faithful fans!!!! Thanks for letting me rant, and feeling the same way... I, too, wish her well, but even more so if I get to find out what happens to the guys...

Amanda I am way too invested in this whole thing but after doing some research she has gone on rants several times, not just that one post that everyone knows about. I get its hard to make it as a writer but don't blame and punish the fans for it, we are the ones reading the books! So disappointed we will never get a proper ending.

JPT I've seen some of the previous angry posts and they weren't pretty. I didn't follow her regularly, but it seemed that I ran across something like that whenever I'd check in about an upcoming book. It was like getting a virtual spanking every time I stopped by. LOL. She has so many avid fans that love her books; I wish she'd concentrate on that more than the negatives. In her (apparent) current state of mind, I'm not counting on her releasing the conclusion/additional stories on her own. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm basically resigned to this being yet another unfinished series I let myself feel too strongly about.

I only "know" her as an author, not personally, but I am concerned and hope she comes through all of this ok.

Dorri I'm reading all these negative comments and it's heartbreaking. Rob fought to get both the Leandros and Trickster novels published. But publishers only look at future sales, which are based on past orders by the big name stores. If the ordering amounts go done for any reason, author's series go on the chopping block. Rob lost the contracts for everything BUT the Leandros series. Then ROC started dropping authors left and right with little to no notice and no reasoning. Other money-making authors got dropped, not just Rob. But Rob had fans screaming at her to release the book (via ROC or self-publishing), only she doesn't own the rights to Everwar, ROC does. So Rob gets blamed. Wouldn't anyone be a little bit bitter? She let it out the only way she knew how, but writing it out. Then, in 2016, Rob's house got hit by a tornado and took damage. Which is when she dropped off the face of the earth (or was eaten by wolves). Now all her fans are left hanging. Not her fault, not our fault. Just sad.

KLK If ROC owns the rights to Everwar, could Rob legally self-pub it with a different title/slightly different content? She'd been saying for quite awhile that she was considering self-pubbing, even in novella formats. I still would read and buy any of her stuff, if I could just get my hands on it. :-) Thanks for the update, and I really am asking about the ownership issue; I'm not knowledgeable about the publishing field...

Ashilee I read her post that she did on her facebook and it was very angry yet at the same time at least kind of giving fans some hope, it sounded like as long as there were fans the series would continue. I feel you are right that it seems like fans are being punished for being fans. Her site has not been updated in a long time and if the publisher was just going to shelf it, it would've been nice to post it and let us fans know since the last book that was done ended in a very awkward spot. It didn't even seem like a natural cut off point whereas with most books that carry into two books, they usually have a more natural flow...this was like crashing to a screeching halt.

I love this series and have recommended it to a lot of my friends who have also loved it. I too have purchased all the books as well as the ones for other series that were started and not finished in both digital and hard copy.

It saddens me that we may never get the conclusion of this series and in a way feels like she has given up on her fans. I hope she can bounce back from this and maybe go the route a lot of my other favorite authors have taken of self publishing and doing digital releases.

C. Stanley Aye I honestly hope she is able to self publish it and other works and from what I have read the return is better for the authors.
One thing is she might want to give a try at a sci-fi series rather than another urban fantasy like she has in the past as people are likely to compare it to the Cal books.

Melanie Phillips I am confused about Dorri's comment that Rob does not own the rights to Everwar, ROC publishing does. I am no copyright attorney, but I have a friend who is a science fiction writer, and have discussed this issue with him, and he says that it's complicated but if Rob owns the copyright (which she does, it's on the trademark and publishing page at the front of her books) , she has rights to this content, especially if the publisher has cancelled publication. Now there are some situations where authors unknowingly give up rights in contracts, but my friend says that cancelling publication generally voids contracts, or that the author has a legal pathway to recover rights under this circumstance. I wonder if she has checked with a copyright attorney about the possibilities. I would really like to at least see the resolution of the cliffhanger, but I also, having seen my friend dealing with publishing concerns, know that it is a minefield of headaches. I wish Rob the best, but I think I'll also consider Downfall a fulfilling ending to the series.
