They are very admirable. One of my favorite scenes in both the book and the movie was their charge into Gondor, knowing they were hopelessly outnumbered, yet felt they must ride to the aid of those in need.

Theoden's speech is one of my favorite parts of both the book and the movie; so stirring, inspiring, and ultimately, deeply moving when you consider the Rohirrim were willing to lay down their lives to defend the people of Gondor.
