Well, it wasn't that long. I've read like 30 pages one day and the rest I finished quickly the next day. Once I picked it up it only took a couple of hours to finish it.
This is probably the fairest assessment and it happens to coincide with my own assessment.
I found it was a little too "paint by numbers" and what didn't sit well with me was how much of the book hinged on coincidence. I guess it just bugged me that EVERY TIME Rachel walk's by the house, she's seen. EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail.
I didn't finish it HATING myself or it, but I just didn't find I cared. It was just as easy to move on past it as it was to get into it.
I didn't read the book yet, but I did see the movie. The movie had too much swearing in it. (not necessary) I think it takes away from the enjoyment when theres that much language in books and movies.
I thought this book was quite tedious and spent most of my time thinking 'how on earth did they manage to make a film out of this?' I finished because I always finish a book once I have started it, but I knew who the murderer was very early on. It was not always easy to work out when things were happening as sometimes they were written as a journal describing past events and sometimes in real time. There were a couple of glaring inconsistencies that didn't help either.
I must share that I read and watch the book and I really enjoyed both shockingly. Books of course are always better, but the movies was just as good.
i actually liked this book (although i had just started reading "books" again so maybe i wasn't as critical as i normally am). while the main character was quite tedious at times, still i found myself wondering how she endured her life riding that train daily and then slipping into "la la land" making up stories ....lol .... but overall i rather enjoyed the book once i took a liking to the main character.....
this book is absolutely aweful. It makes me feel sadder in my heart and I kinder want to throws up. *throws up* I hate trains
