Have you read The Stormlight Archive or The Lightbringer Series? Those books are great and the magic system in them are great.
Stormlight Archive feels so much like something Jordan would write. really enjoying it. I'd also recommend the Patrick Rothfuss series, King Killer chronicles. you'll feel especially nostalgic with the crazy waits between books being published!
Not really. Jordan's longest delay between books was 4 years.. and that was when he died and Sanderson took over for him. Prior to that.. his average was about 2.5 years.. usually less.
With that said... I do definitely recommend the Stormlight Archive and anything by Sanderson. Rothfuss is pretty good... but he is taking forever now.. and he swears his story ends in the next book... and unless it begins a new trilogy.. there is no way it can end unless it is like 2k pages. WAY too much to wrap up in just one book just for the backstory... much less to go forward from where they are in the 'present'..
