Very good points indeed. They had Alec, but the Cullens had Zafrina. And his power works slower than hers, so advantage Cullens.
I thought it was such crap when, after struggling to project her shield for most of the book, suddenly in the heat of battle she becomes Master Yoda. Yeah, it's an ending but such a lame, Mary Sue ending. Every comic book reader knows you don't make your hero all-powerful. It just doesn't make for an interesting story.
