I did too for the most part until book 4 and 5. They ruin the entire series. Especially because of the wait between books. Even more so when you find out that the reason behind the wait is because of a stupid TV show, and that he can't write anywhere but his home. It just gets old.

You are correct in saying that the song of ice and fire series is Fantasy Lite, I did expect it to involve more 'traditional' fantasy elements in the plot.
