After the first trilogy Bren seems to be more invested in the Atevi Court then Humanities Government, I think this originates from the conflict in the second and third books where they kind of turn on him. Honestly it feels like he is bitter about their treatment of him and his family.
Yea I have read the whole series but its been over a decade since I started it and I'm loving how it reads now, then it was fun, but its very intellectual too.
I understand that, but what the head people did has nothing to do with all humans, it's like he'll stick up for the Atevi, no matter the cost or consequence. I still admire him and some of the things he does. All humans shouldn't be blamed for what a few did

I agree with you J.C. Bren tried very hard to get the State Dept. to respond to his reports but there was a cronyism thing going on that literally put his and his family's life in danger while the Atevi he was working with extended himself to offer bringing Bren's family and loved ones to the mainland despite the accords that allowed only one human to be there. I'd say that would be reason enough for him to favor those who take care of him. Later, people he worked for at lower levels of the State Dept. (Sean) got elected into power and he was better able to identify with the Mospherans.
