You're talking about the Fallen book? Or Born at Midnight? Unfortunately I find that a lot of books in the Young Adult fantasy genre are in fact immature writings and I think they might do that on purpose to appeal to the young adults however I cannot seem to find the kind of books I like in the "Sci-Fi" section of the book store. There are more mature writings in there but it isn't anything I really enjoy. I went to Barnes & Noble the other day and look into a ton of books in the Sci-Fi section and Fantasy section and collected a lot of titles that I will research and find out if I am willing to read them. I had the same problem you did though, a lot of the books in the YA genre are too immature of reads for me. I want something that is a little more mature but unfortuantely I cannot find what I want in the more mature sci fi sections of the book store. :-( I chose "Born at Midnight" the "Shadow Falls" series to start reading by C.C. Hunter and I am halfway through the first book and I'm liking it so far, its just that the writings are a little "young" for me as far as vocabulary and the way characters talk to each other. But it is a fairly good story so far. I'll let you guys know how it is in the end!
I'm not a sci-fi reader, but I've read a few medical mysteries I like by Robin Cook. The Glass Castle is good.
I loved the Born at Midnight series. There is a follow up to that series about the vampire Della in the oridional series. It follows the events of the previous series its just that the author switches the primary focus to Della and how she wants to work for the FRU but it was also really good. I cannot find a way around this problem with the immaturity. Unfortunately it's hit or miss. Sometimes I can find good reads in the YA section but in the sci fi section its more about aliens and such which I'm not really into. I usually do most of my research for books I think I would enjoy online through good reads or through google because there is a lot more genre's out there on the internet and they can be more specific rather then going to the book store and being limited to the YA, paranormal, or sci-fi sections. Unfortunately the "Fiction" section doesn't even include the paranormal as far as vampires and such. There is a lot of good books out there you just have to look for them. I have a note book that when I find a book I think I might like, I'll write it down and research it and by doing that I'll stumble across a whole lot more books in that genre. Best of Luck to you. Thanks for the advice.
