That's what "of color" means, anyone who is not considered to be white. Trez andiAm are considered to be Moors, of African decent. If you saw them in the flesh you would be thinking they look more like AAs, and not their European (white) brethren
She said that The Shadows were a sub-species of Vampire. They are not the exact same. She even goes so far as to say that Trez looked like Dwayne Johnson who is half black and half samoan. When they are first introduced they are simply referred to as the moors. Moors are traditionally referred to a s being Negro. So, I would say that yes, they are AA's. I love this series regardless of the race of the vamps.
So, Trez and iAm, the Moors, are a subspecies of vampire? Are they a subspecies like/similar to the Doggen, since they are a subspecies of vampire? If so, that would be very racist in my opinion. What type of subspecies are they?
In fact, I think it's racist that the author would make Trez and iAm a subspecies of vampire at all. Why can't they just be vampires for crying out loud?
I really don't see the racism in that. How could that even be considered in the same catergory as racist? Some things in PNR have different subspecies etc.. something that has branched off from it's original form. If it's racist, then wouldn't the Doggen, who they are, where they come from be a form of racism as well?
iititsit's nnonot cclcleclclear exactly what type of subspecies Trez and iAm are. I don't recall Ward going deep into that. It was just stated. But she may go into it in Trez and iAm's book.
Trez & iAm have a lot of the same characteristics as their Vamp Brethern. Fangs, they drink blood, their aggressive etc.. There are just certain things, subtle but not, that are different about them. Their culture where the originate from etc.. Again, these things have only been mentioned/alluded to thus far. So many of us are hoping that Ward delves a bit deeper into these differences with their book. But to get it Maxine, you just need to keep reading the series & actually meet Trez & iAm first, so that what we're discussing here will make more sense
Trez & I.Am are Moors. At the beginning of the series, all we know about them are they are obviously African-American or dark skinned and they throw off the air of bodygaurds working for Rev at Zerosum. When we get to Rev's story, we see that they are much more than that, they function as caretakers and friends of sort as he deals with his health issues and the mental stress of being blackmailed. They are twins (JR is big on twin mythology) and grew up in a matriarcal, tribal society.
