Agreed. I had completely lost my willing suspension of disbelief by the end.
I feel the same. The last 10 or so pages were just depressing. My "there's no way this is even remotely possible" feeling just ruined the end to me. I thought the book was GREAT otherwise, very well written and a completely different sort of plot than I'd read before.
