It would have been one thing had Lydia's actions only affected Lydia. But Darcy saw that the whole family would have been ridiculed. The other girls would have possibly lost out on marriage prospects. Or at least good reputable ones.
The affair would have damaged Lydia's and her family's reputations. Likely she wouldn't ever have a decent marriage proposal again and never could regain respect. Darcy acted rightly.
