I got the same feeling

ı was looking for this comment on the internet bc ı too was wondering who he was talking to while ı was reading it and at the last part, ı realized that the whole time it was me (the reader). And in the book like charlie says we just listened to him and were there for him mentally but the friend he was talking to never responded to him and if the friend was someone in the book; to make it more interesting the author would add a part about the friend (like even if it is not about who it is maybe about what the freind think about charlie after everything) which these never happened bc the friend were us that is why there was no respond or anything bc as a reader we could just read and feel him from far. That's what ı think so ı hope it makes sense :)

I think there is something so gut wrenching (at least for me) when I had this realization that he was writing to "me"
