Some people prefer to listen to the book. The narrator is Davina Porter and they are really nice to listen to, her narration enhances the books immensely. As much as I LOVE the books, I know they are not for everyone. But they are well worth the effort, I think. Outlander is DG's first book, so it is not is not as well done as later books, as she developed her skill. My favorites are books 6, 8, and 4. It is really with book 4 that I think the series starts to get VERY good. I think as you read more of her, you'll enjoy it more too.
With all the foreign words and accents, I really like the audio books.
