Allison Ender's Game was in fact a prequel to the series that followed, intended to explain Ender's past and why he was on the path he was following. The series itself explores even deeper into the questions of what exactly constitutes sentient life. Rather than being nonsensical, I found the series exceptionally insightful and poignant, having very little to do with rebuilding the bugger race and more to do with exploring the meaning of humanity. You should give them a chance.

Ivan Unfortunately after having read them in the order I did, the story makes little sense to continue on, even if it later develops into a good philosophical read. Since you read a story about a boy raising a race of bugs, its different from me reading the story of a boy raising a race of bugs that attacked earth twice with hopes of wiping them completely off the map.

Odd that I was recommended to read them in this order, prequel first, since it seems most people doing that seem to take issue with crazy Ender bringing back the bugs.
