Amelia Lydgate

Young Englishwoman with red-gold hair and pewter eyes. Former patient of Max’s. In Vienna to study medicine at the University with Herr Professor Landsteiner so she can edit and publish her German grandfather’s private journals. He, Dr. Ludwig Buchbinder, was a scientific visionary, confidante of Prince Albert, and Physician-in-Ordinary to Queen Victoria of England.
Amelia also has an extraordinary mind and helps Rheinhardt by studying crime scene materiel under the microscope—a practice that became a science in its own right, forensic medicine.
Amelia first lived with a distant cousin of her mother Greta’s, Herr Minister Schelling and his wife Beatrice. In exchange, Amelia provided English lessons to their young children Adele and Edvard. She now lives with Frau Rubenstein in Vienna.
