William Ferris
William Ferris served in the Highland Cyclist Battalion during WWI and, in 1920, played a key role in establishing Scotland's largest hutting site at Carbeth to the north of Glasgow. He went on to become Vice President of the Camping Club of Great Britain and Ireland, Vice Chairman of the Scottish Council of Physical Recreation, Chairman of the Scottish Rights of Way Society, Scottish Ramblers Federation Chairman and member of the Scottish Tourist Board.
