Xavier Galezowski
Born in Lipowice, Poland, in 1832. In 1867, he established himself in Paris as an ophthalmologist, one of the first in the field. He founded the first French journal of ophthalmology in 1872. He was awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honour for service the Franco-Prussian war. He died in 1907.
