Ruth’s little brother, Adam has always been fascinated by the supernatural and he secretly hoards odd artifacts and spiritualist paraphernalia. At first he is upset about being assigned as Theodore’s newest employee—the embarrassing occupation of a carpenter’s apprentice is the perfect excuse for him to get bullied by his peers.

But when Adam learns that they’ll be working at the famously haunted Valiard Mansion, he’s more excited than ever at the prospect of being in the presence of the supernatural.

Using all he’s learned from his studies of spiritualism, Adam sets out to try to communicate with the dead. But will the Mansion’s lost souls reveal their secrets to a child?
