Abby Blanton’s mother is in failing health, and shouldn’t be. Something happened to her mother at the Renaissance Women’s Center during a visit ten days ago, but no one will talk to her or help find a donor with her mother’s rare blood. Abby turns to her investigative skills as a television news journalist at a Chicago fundraiser where she leaves with more questions than she brought and becomes the focus of a killer with a twisted sense of honor. As if the night at the fundraiser hadn’t gone bad enough, Abby encountered a man she never forgot and never wanted to see again. But Hunter Thornton-Payne isn’t so easy to dismiss, especially when it becomes clear they are after the same man with opposing goals. With her mother sliding away daily, hiding from a killer is out of the question for Abby who is determined to find out what is going on inside the women’s center that is killing women. She begins to realize Hunter isn’t the superficial playboy he shows the world, but a dangerous operative with a tortured past whose success depends on killing the best chance her mother has to survive.
