Gilbert
Gilbert is a fictional character, one of the most important ones at the Marie Antoinette romances, or "Mémoires de une médicin".
Gilbert is a poor man who lives in the Chateau de Taverney because his parents were the baron's servants. He loves Andrée de Taverney, who is very proud and doesn't even perceive that. One night, he finds her fainted and rapes her. She get pregnant without even knowing she was no longer a virgin. He confesses what he has done and proposes to her. When she says no, he steals the baby shortly after his birth. The child is called Sébastien Gilbert, and believes that his mother is dead. Philippe de Taverney Maison Rouge, Andrée's brother, tries to kill Gilbert, but fails.
Gilbert than travels to the United States and learns medicine with Cagliostro.
When returning to France, he is arrested by the request of the Countess de Charny, Andrée de Taverney. He is released at the taking of the Bastille. He then becomes the King's personal physicist, and also his counselor, …more
