Bette Midler
Bette Midler (born December 1, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, comedian, and film producer.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Midler first rose to prominence for her role in the Broadway play "Fiddler on the Roof" in the late 1960s. She gathered further acclaim in 1970 when she began singing in the Continental Baths, a New York City gay bathhouse. Since 1970, Midler has released 14 studio albums as a solo artist.
Midler made her film debut in 1979 with "The Rose," which earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress, as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She has since starred in a number of hit films, winning 2 additional Golden Globes for these and receiving a second Academy Award nomination.
In a career spanning almost half a century, Midler has won 3 Grammy Awards, 4 Golden Globes, 3 Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award. She has sold over 30 million records worldwide.…more
