Muhammad bin Mussa Al‑Khwarizmi (c. 780–c. 850 CE) was a Persian mathematician of the Islamic Golden Age whose works on "al-Jabr" and Hindu‑Arabic numerals— preserved in Latin as Algoritmi de numero Indorum—laid the foundations for modern algebra and introduced algorithms to Europe.
