Robert Elder
Robert Elder (1899 - 1963) was a Scottish architect. He studied at Glasgow School of Architecture and joined Charles J. McNair as a junior partner in 1927.
McNair & Elder designed cinemas for George Urie Scott, the A B King circuit, and the Associated British Cinemas (ABC) circuit. Their work included the Regal in Sirling (1932), the Regals in Paisley and Falkirk (1934), the Regal, Coutbridge, the Plaza, Govan and the Princes, Springburn, completed in 1936, and the State, King's Park (1937).
McNair & Elder also designed the Denniston Palais ballroom in Glasgow's East End (1938).…more
